Linux Mint Tester

I am currently testing the newest version of Linux Mint. So far everything is ok. This version of linux is the closest to the Windows XP interface. It is a derivation from Ubuntu Linux.

I have successfully installed a printer - Canon ip1880 series via local usb connection. I am still trying someways to install a printer via shared network from a Windows PC. I used a linux driver available at the link below. Instructions in installing the driver is also included in this link.

I have also succesfully installed and configured a wireless LAN device - IEEE Lan Express (i'll double check the correct model number). With the following settings:

• DHCP
  
• WEP key 128bit
  
• Wireless Access Point
  

I will be doing more tests before I can use Linux Mint on my shop. I am planning to install it on my laptop and use as a substitute for my old Windows Desktop. If everything will fall according to plan I may save up money for not buying another M$ OS.

It's time to learn new horizons

just got some problems installing video drivers for my radeon igp. Dapat siguro stick na lang ako sa basic video driver ng linux.

Sinubukan kong i-remove yung na-install na glfx driver for radeon and ati video cards pero hindi pa rin bumalik sa dati yung compfiz settings ko. Mukhang may error na sa configuration ng linux ko.

Sa wakas may nag-work ng scanner utility sa linux for my Canon Lide 20.

Nag-download ako ng Xsane Scanning Utility, Medyo complex lang yung controls pero okay yung output. Akala ko hindi ko na magagamit itong scanner na ito sa linux.

So far ang ok na devices with linuxmint:

1. Canon ip1880 printer
   
2. Canon LIDE 20 Scanner
   

Going to try webcams from a4tech kung mag-work with gyachi. Problem ko lang hindi ko pa ma-install yung gyachi because of some errors in dependencies.
